    The new world of leveraged buyouts and mergers and acquisitions means that any company that invests in their workers for the long haul may be considered "under-performing" and a take-over target. This change started in the 1980s and so much of what we tend to blame on globalization: plant closings, falling wages, benefits, unstable employment are actually due to Wall Street and private equity messing with corporations.
