  •  How many people have been killed in the (0+ / 0-)

    past by terrorists pales relative to how many would be killed in a single nuclear bomb explosion. Do you really think that if terrorists had access to a bomb that they would be morally opposed to using it? That is the real danger, and one I think we need to be ever-vigilant against. It is only a matter of time before some terrorist group gets their hands on a device. Let's hope we can stop it. Giving the NSA some leeway is the least any of us can do to support this effort.

        Whether you believe it or not, or appreciate the efforts of anti-terrorism efforts or not, you would be just as dead in the event your city were hit by an attack. Luckily, people like you are not in charge of our country.

          also real.  I don't stay up at night worrying about that either.  Nor do I think we should destroy our civil rights and waste billions of dollars on huge security programs over it.

            But now you've got me worried about meteors... Maybe we need PRISM spying on scientists to make sure they're not using Dr. Evil's "Preparation H" to crash a meteor into the ice caps to cause global flooding.

          actually kill?

          Nuclear weapons are vastly over-rated in their effects on cities, as declassified reports from WWII and weapons tests have shown.

          Terrorists are unlikely to get access to big booms because of security features on the weapons themselves, which they are probably unable to work around. A basic bomb will be low yield, and they are unable to construct an advanced bomb from materials without advanced knowledge. Not to mention a big bomb will be physically large and hard to move.

          If it's state-sponsored terrorism, then they'll have spate-sponsored and secured communications, which means they're even less likely to be caught via PRISM.
