Manning was treated in isolation, abused, not brought to trial for years, any one would have to be insane to subject themselves to that "national security matters" imprisonment and abuse tantamount to torture.

to be more in unison with everyone else on the site when republicans were in power and we all wanted to get them out.

But now, we've discovered that all our work for change -- including a speech during which we were told in no uncertain terms that the Bush administration overreaches would absolutely be rolled back -- has turned out to be "not so much change," people are sorta splintered about what they  think on these various problems with the promise versus the delivery.

Anyway, I'm not making excuses or pointing fingers, so much as just trying to think through what's going on and why people who I think are bright and thoughtful have such widely varying views.

I don't know where this is going, but as long as Obama is supporting this massive data grab on all Americans, all the time, I'm afraid the end result will be frightening in the long term.

that Obama is, as the saying goes, part of the problem.  They're still in "defend Obama" mode.

It's actually severely damaging to DailyKos.  You'll note that topics on Community Spotlight are diverging massively from the topics on the Rec List, which doesn't happen when DailyKos is healthy.

... has been spectacularly noticeable on that "wrong side of history" imho.

I'm surprised Kos likes having her speak for his website, frankly.
