This is the best diary I've read in a long time.  I have to say I'm a little bewildered by your ability to speak so frankly about such dark events in your past.  It really speaks to the strength of your character, and makes the topic that much more salient.  This is an issue we need to bring up as often as possible, because the prison system is far from a complete success story for society.  We should be constantly looking for ways to improve it, beyond just locking offenders up and throwing away the key.  I believe the best place to start is rehabilitation instead of incarceration for nonviolent drug offenders.  But I have no doubt where the current administration stands on that issue.

    •  One of the reasons I love this site... (4.00) the ability to share deeply personal stories with a wide audience in order to (hopefully) make some kind of point.

Speaking for myself, I could probably write about personal things and put it out there for perhaps hundreds--if not, indeed, thousands--to read that I couldn't get up in front of and give a speech to about the same subject matter.

He's a bear dammit! Buster brown and his hairy holly knockers, have you ever tried to bring one down? Ha ha!--Phil Ken Sebben
