    to do away with state management of elections altogether for federal offices.  There's an obvious compelling interest for the federal government to have uniform standards in choosing who gets to run it.  Sure, some tinkering would be necessary given that federal, state and local races appear on the same ballot, but nothing that can't be worked out.

    This way career professionals subject to meaningful oversight get to allocate voting machines, instead of the secretaries of state of Ohio and Florida.

    I'm under no illusions that such a law would make it to the President's desk under the current congress.  It would take a partisan Dem to bend a presidential election our way for that to happen.

    First they came for the slippery-slope fallacists, and I said nothing. The End.
