    What it would likely show is that the government "rarely" violates our civil liberties.
        That still doesn't make me feel better and doesn't make it right.

      What it will show, and the leaks to date have already shown, is that the government is violating our civil liberties deliberately, knowingly, and constantly.  This will be (lamely) SPUN by the authorities as something else, and there will be people (especially in the media!) dumb enough to accept the things they say at face value, but no one with any sense will be fooled.  This is a good thing.  It's the only way to begin the "debate" the President claims he wants on anything like an even footing.
