    then there's midtown, the upper east side and the upper west side. Uptown is Harlem, as mentioned. Wall St isn't downtown, Wall St is Wall St. Unfortunately almost all of the real estate branding mini-neighborhoods downtown have stuck. East Village, Soho, Tribeca, Noho. What's left of the Lower East Side is a few blocks on Delancy and maybe a block on Ave D. There actually was a Greenwich Village and a Lower East Side. The rest are just looking for a rent premium - with greater and greater success I might add.

    Bushwick under the J feels more like New York City than anywhere in the Manhattan theme park to me but I'm old. NY reinvents itself every 15 - 20 years. It's been that way since Evacuation Day.
