  •  Paul Lynde (4.00)
As a child, I was drawn to Paul Lynde.  I was too young to appreciate a lot of his humour, but there was something about him that intrigued me.  It wasn't until several years later, and I had come out as a gay man, that I realized that what I had been detecting was an audacious, out gay man.

Never let it be said that positive gay role models don't have a empowering effect on gay children and youth.

...who formed his biggest base of support (and they had no idea he was gay).  They'd line up for hours to get his autograph, and he was very gracious to them.  To be fair, he could also be a horrendous booze-soaked prick (the quintessential "mean drunk"), but sober he could be a real sweetheart.

...made me do several evil, knowing laughs out loud. I'm sure I probably heard him do those jokes when I was a kid and didn't know what I was laughing about. He was funny, as funny as the material.

I really don't desire to see the new Bewitched movie, but I'm dying to see one of my favorites, Steve Carell, do the "Uncle Arthur" role.
