  •  It's Easiest If You Don't Make Anything. (6+ / 0-)

I do, I'm an artisan, it's my only livelihood available to me. I have to use extracted resources because my society told me 15 years ago that it wouldn't employ me any longer in service and support work except at an unliveable wage.

So I use the tiniest machines that will do the mechanized tasks I need. I buy the minimum sized stock for making my parts to the point of taking a certain hit in the market for the consequences of that frugality. I find ways to reuse supplies such as paper towels 3,4 and more different ways. I use efficient lighting and turn it off constantly. I use curbside and more advanced regional recycling.

The fact of global warming is that the planet cannot accept one single new net molecule of atmospheric carbon. So if you do any act of any kind anywhere at all you will add to the injury of life, ecology and property of the entire planet. This will be true until our species becomes net atmospheric carbon negative.

Only those, probably vanishingly few people who have some tools to make themselves net carbon negative, actually have a choice to do no harm. For virtually all of us the individual choice is at best to minimize harm.

We can't solve this with repentance.

We are called to speak for the weak, for the voiceless, for victims of our nation and for those it calls enemy.... --ML King "Beyond Vietnam"
