Nobody has to take anyone's word for anything.  Anyone, anywhere, at any time, can repeat an experiment for him or her self--and no power on earth can stop them from doing that.

That is why ALL crackpot theories that depend on a "scientific conspiracy to hide X Y or Z !!!!" are horseshit.  There is simply no way anyone can stop anyone else from performing any experiment they want to.

... true in theory. In practice, not necessarily. Most citizens would not be able to muster the resources, equipment, or legal permissions needed to conduct vaccine trials, for example.

So a "scientific conspiracy to hide x y or z," while admittedly ludicrous, is preying on the idea that the ability to do the level of scientific tests is limited to smaller population of people who have access to that stuff. Which is true. What they do is distort the scale of that smaller population of people by making it appear much smaller than it actually is. But from the outside that distinction is harder to see.

If we convince people that poverty is noble and virtuous, they will turn over their last penny to us and sleep well at night. We must never let them know how we rob them or how their being poor sustains us.
