    Even Nobel prizewinners are wrong off and on.

    Linus Pauling was a genius, an expert and careful chemist who was brilliantly correct when he deduced the basic structures of proteins.

    And he was spectacularly wrong about the structure of DNA. It was his assumptions about the phosphorous in DNA that threw off his whole deductive (chemical) reasoning.
