    found on both the Right and Left (remember that former Congressman Dan Burton was a leading proponent of the vaccine-autism fallacy). There's no real ideological unity among vaccine opponents, and therefore vaccine opposition makes a good example for studying the problems of poor public understanding of science, simply because there's less ideological baggage present.
