I LIKE aspartame.  Works well with my system.  They used to put it in the diet versions of Yoplait and Dannon yogurts.  It wasn't too awfully sweet, and it certainly didn't cause ME to have additional sugar cravings.  Just the opposite.  It was just enough for a mid-morning breakfast that settled my heartburn and tasted just slightly tart.

Then lots of people complained about it, apparently.  Chemically, there's good reason why it might not agree with some people's systems.  It should be labeled, and they should be able to avoid it if they want to.  BUT I WANT MY ASPARTAME YOGURT BACK.  The stuff they replaced it with (usually sucralose) is so sweet it's disgusting.  I've gone from eating Dannon regularly to barely eating it all.  And when I do, I get the "regular", which has twice as many calories, but at least the sugar isn't QUITE as bad as the sucralose garbage.

Nope.  I'm with you on appropriate labeling and availability of versions with and without any particular sweetener.  But I can't agree that aspartame is simply Evil.  Some of us do quite well with it and would like it to stay on the market.

Aspartame doesn't give me any problems, nor does sucralose, though I do find sucralose to be awfully sweet, and I like things a little more muted.

What I miss like hell is fresh fruit.

When you come to find how essential the comfort of a well-kept home is to the bodily strength and good conditions, to a sound mind and spirit, and useful days, you will reverence the good housekeeper as I do above artist or poet, beauty or genius.

I mix with whole grain cereal as a dessert.

It's difficult to be happy knowing so many suffer. We must unite.

I made some very GOOD yogurt in college, equal to the best "Greek style" on the market now.  I didn't really like it.  I know what the problem is and think I can fix it -- I crave the tang of citric acid.  Always go for the lemon, lime, blueberry flavors; absolutely DETEST the peach, mango, banana, etc. as insipid and bland.  Anyway, plain yoghurt with just honey in it is just bland and tasteless to me, as is plain yoghurt with most jams and jellies mixed in, because they're just too sweet.  I want that citrus tang!  And I think aspartame actually adds to that a little, which is probably why some people say they hate the taste, and I like it.
