  •  They use 1st Amend. when they'd like to repeal it (3+ / 0-)

in a recent survey 32% of Americans said they'd like an Amendment to the US Constitution declaring the US to be a Christian nation . . . yes I'm assuming the signatories of this letter are in the 32% . . . because you can't amend the Constitution to do that without repealing the 1st Amend.

    •  Actually, you can. A newer amendment (1+ / 0-)

automatically negates an older amendment should the two conflict.  So if such an amendment were passed the 1st amendment would be limited to protecting Christian religions from each other (and non-Christians).

which actually has precedent the 18th Amendment was repealed by the 21st.

And I don't think that the majority of those who want their to be an amendment  declaring us a Christian nation would even think there is a need to protect one Christian group from another .... you say this even now to the "we took God out of our schools and now our country is doomed" crowd, they can't process it.

In fact if such an amendment were passed the NAR would count on their being no provision so as to be more openly predatory to other Christian sects they see as liberal.
