  •  One of the things that really pissed me off the (6+ / 0-)

    other day was the puff piece they did on how the kids from one school are welcoming the kids from the closing school to their building and how everything was all lovey-dovey.

    They showed happy little African-American children getting along with each other because "most of the kids already knew each other".

    Then they had the throwaway line--

    It will be more difficult on the South Side where there is a lot of animosity between neighborhoods and gangs and stuff.

      ...overcrowding even as their programs and teachers  have been slashed in the latest round of budget cuts. Meanwhile there is millions in TIF money tied up along with money locked into toxic credit swaps. Illinois corporations have been awarded major tax breaks and still scream for more.

      Jackson Potter of the Chicago Teachers Union has even gone to Bank of America personally to try and negotiate some relief from the toxic credit swaps. Neither Rahm nor Bennett have shown any interest in pursuing that route with the union
