  •  A little something from yesterday (14+ / 0-)

Thousand gave “Aid and Comfort” to the enemy. I knew one of them.

Didn't get much traction. However I did come up with a pretty good summation.

    War is the enemy

Those who support the GWOT and its resulting erosion of civil liberties and the continued growth of the war budget, are giving “Aid and Comfort” to the enemy.

Also too, aliasalias pointed out that Snowden was also the name of the gunner that Yossarian watched die in Catch 22.
"Yossarian felt his heart stop, then pound so violently he found it difficult to breathe. Snowden was wounded inside his flak suit. Yossarian ripped open the snaps of Snowden's flak suit and heard himself scream wildly as Snowden's insides slithered down to the floor in a soggy pile and just kept dripping out...
'I'm cold,' Snowden whimpered, 'I'm cold...'
Yossarian was cold, too, and shivering uncontrollably. He felt goose pimples clacking all over him as he gazed down despondently and the grim secret Snowden had spilled all over the messy floor. It was easy to read the message in his entrails. Man was matter, that was Snowden's secret. Drop him out a window and he'll fall. Set fire to him and he'll burn. Bury him and he'll rot, like other kinds of garbage. The spirit gone, man is garbage. That was Snowden's secret. Ripeness was all."

    •  Wow that was a good one (9+ / 0-)

and really timely. I'm sad that I never saw it yesterday.  I hope you pick up that "aiding and abetting" topic and skewer it BOHICA.  It's now a full blown talking point in the media and in the blogs.  It's causing some bright red lines to be drawn.  I can't remember a time when I've seen people take such strong stands, except maybe on Social Security. Nobody is messing around or taking any shit on what's being dished out and the ones dishing it out are forming a stark contrast. I wonder if they realize it.

Mornings are kind of crazy here this week. The kids are home and my oldest, who had a temp job since college ended is now finished with that. We've got one car until KBO gets here and then he drives them a lot of the time.  One of my kids demands a lot of attention and we're still dealing with a long term crisis with him and coordinating with my ex a couple times a day.  The youngest has to do some make up work and has to be at school every morning for a half day.  Plus I've got a paid project that I'm working on, setting up a site for an organization, and I'm trying to get that site we've been working on modified and off the ground.  So it's been hectic. I think it will calm down a bit next week or the week after, when we've settled into our summer routine. Next week we're starting a bunch of maintenance and clean up projects around the house too. And this NSA files story is sucking up way too much of my time.  Starting today I'm going to cut back on that and just follow a liveblog and a twitter list every few hours.
