Jesse Helms & they seemed to for a while.

Pat McCrory was mayor of Charlotte for 14 years & at least for part of it, he was a pretty good mayor.  I even voted for him a few times when the Dems weren't running a good candidate.  However, I got over him.

He taxed us to death & I was surprised that never really became an issue in his run for Governor.  I'm not sure when he got so conservative & crazy.  He certainly hid it for a very long time.

      McCrory went on to say:

"Too many of our youth, primarily African-American, are imitating and/or participating in a gangster type of dress, attitude, behavior and action."
That was in 2007, after he'd spent five or six years hobnobbing in DC and sucking up to Bush. He'd already thrown Charlotte's LGBT community under the bus, and he needed to "lynch" the AA community as well. He knew that he'd be running for governor, and he also knew that the sure-fire way to the really big bucks was to lurch hard right and, while at it, let his inner racist come roaring out of the closet along with his collection of white sheets and pointy hoods.

McCrory is one of the sickest, most repulsive specimens of what passes for "humanity" that I've even encountered.
