  •  It's about time (9+ / 0-)

She deserved to be fired for her racist attitudes, but I'm appalled that FN gave her a show to begin with.  Her food was execrable and incredibly unhealthy.  I watched one of Food Network's Thanksgiving specials and Deen prepared the turkey gravy...and put butter in it.  So disgusting.

not everyone objects to regional food.
Yes, she was over the top on some of it. But Southern food is heavy on fat and frying, and it's been like that for at least a century, maybe two. You can look at some 19th century cookbooks and see the same kind of food.

(Is it time for the pitchforks and torches yet?)

And Paula Deen refused to evolve with it.  To throw butter into a gravy that already contains a healthy amount of animal fat is a heart attack waiting to happen.  I don't care what happened over the last two centuries.  We know now the science behind health risks like Deens 'gravy' and there's no excuse for pushing it onto the public at large.
