accurate. It is even possible that it is PARTICULARLY dangerous to turnout in fact to have high poll numbers. I do not trust people to show up.

MA voters are SICK of voting for Senate, quite bluntly. If I've not lost track this is our Forth Senate election in Three years. And we will have yet another in less than two years. It is very tiresome to many people. People who are disengaged but would vote Dem think "everyone will vote for Markey they don't need my vote". It is a dangerous thing.

My bet is that we'll see the lowest turnout in history. Numerous people I know who normally are plugged in and vote are not going to be voting. Many will be away this first week of summer. My good friend has never ever missed a vote in her sixty yrs and she is. She didn't get absentee ballot in time she says. I am not sure when the deadline is or if it's passed. She's gone already down the Cape.

    •  I agree. (0+ / 0-)

Stories like this just depress turnout.

Twenty-point lead? No, I don't believe it; even though Gomez is a terrible candidate.

Globe front-page article about total apathy in Braintree, a conservative-leaning town where Scott Brown won handily twice. Gomez needs to do very well in this kind of town to have a chance, but most people they talked to don't even know when the election is.

I just came from canvassing, going back out after lunch. Our Newton offices are humming. By 10 AM we had dozens of people out hitting the streets. Two people whose door I knocked on volunteered, spontaneously, to volunteer tomorrow. We're not taking anything for granted, but I smell a win.

      •  the ground/phone game is good (0+ / 0-)

This election has the biggest ground game I've seen, ever, in MA.  We're getting TONS of voicespam, especially, and I expect I'll have several more when I get home.   All of it for Markey, too.

(I have some amount of phone anxiety, so I am SO TIRED of the calls that I'm not answering the phone at all because of all the campaign calls, but I'm glad it's happening.)

Hope we can hold the momentum through the special election for Markey's successor in Congress, as well.
