I was driving home from NN13. Mr pixxer had made a tomato sauce using Romas bought in a quick-sale bag, probably for 99 cents. He added onions and mushrooms to a portion of it and served that over spaghetti for a simple but yummy dinner.

Your herb photos are so lovely! We have some very happy basil, but until tomato season, I don't know a lot to do with it, at least in quantity. At the end of the season we will take whatever has not been used and make pesto and freeze it in an ice cube tray, but right now there is a lot of basil going begging. I would love a bunch of ideas to use up substantial amounts of basil, now that we actually have it.

We all understand that freedom isn't free. What Romney and Ryan don't understand is that neither is opportunity. We have to invest in it.

or on sandwiches. You could make a pesto mayo to use on burgers & sandwiches.
      This looks good too:

try that :) We almost never have hamburgers, but every time we actually do, we wonder why we have them so seldom, b/c they are delicious. I checked out the hummus recipe, too, and it sounds interesting. Hummus is a favorite, and had the added advantage of having about zero negatives - it's pretty much a health food, as far as I can tell. That post has a link to a tomato/white bean/basil salad that sounds great. The blogger has the same problem we do - needs to use lots of basil! Thanks
