  •  Can't... properly... convey... jealously... level. (15+ / 0-)

I remember flooding: July '11.  That's about it.  That's the last time I remember several inches of water on the ground at one time.

It's time to start letting sleeping dinosaurs lie, lest we join them in extinction by our consumption of them.

    •  after a weirdly dry "winter", we're still getting (6+ / 0-)

"spring" rain here, at the end of June -- usually unheard-of! (Willamette Valley OR)

the last plundering rains should have been for Memorial Day weekend (traditional canvas tent camping event (Egil's) in long skirts and leather moccasin type shoes!)

at this rate, 4th of July and Country Faire will be mud-wallows!

my raspberries and volunteer potatoes, and the overgrown & gone-to-seed parsley, and the volunteer weld are all happy as pigs with the weather we've been getting -- we deliberately didn't plant food garden this year because of expected moving and house selling. I need to go pick raspberries today!!!

ooh, ooh!!! garden stuff: my dierama is blossoming! finally (2 yrs?). and the "Scarlet Emperor" (?) peony bloomed this year (3 yrs?). AND the biggest hosta has THREE flower spikes setting (3 or more years)!!! (I've been watering them a bunch more than earlier years, probably has something to do with it)

The Dierama is a stupendous electric pink color, with dark purple... let's see... like these (dark purple before they open) D. Pulcherrimum; or maybe these Lancelots, where you can still see faint traces of the purple. Anyway I'm over the moon, I just love these.

and something new has popped up, I must have flung an old packet of wildflowers or something... coming in clusters, little single stem clusters about 12" tall with leaves all the way up each, ending in clusters of maybe 20? blossoms about a half-cm in diameter. 5 petals, symmetrical and quite bright pink. have no idea what they could be! the clusters are 2 to 2.5 in. across.

"real" work : a job where you wash your hands BEFORE you use the bathroom...
