  •  Kish, my magnolia is finally following your lead (6+ / 0-)

... with a flower that unfolded like the hands of generosity overnight.  It's one of 10 flowers on this tree, in various stages of development, and i'm just over the moon about it.  I'd take a picture for you, but it's pouring.

PS:  What must the neighbors think to see hubby and i standing in the rain with our snoots poking in and out of the bowl of that huge blossom?  "Do they think they're giant hummingbirds, or something?" :)

      TEN buds????  WOW!!!

      I'm so totally envious!!

The back tree has five buds.  One has already opened (I missed it, and saw it a day after), but I have four more opportunities to appreciate the gorgeous flowers.

Don't they look ridiculous in a sense that they're so huge in comparison to the young tree??  :D  The petals are so much larger than the leaves!!!  :D

Although there's a lot of new growth on that tree, it's still puny so the flowers look entirely out of scale ... i'm shocked there are so many.

Think of the show your tree will put on next year, having had a full growing season to recover from trauma.  Your bees will be in heaven.
