    involving a charge this serious, one juror is enough for a hung jury.  

    There's no basis to treat this defendant differently from every other criminal defendant.

      In many instances the Judge can accept a majority verdict, but not when only six jurors are empaneled.

      I hope that the quality of debate will improve,
      but I fear we will remain Democrats.

        jurors, a unanimous verdict is required under Ballew v. Georgia.  A few states still allow a less than unanimous verdict in juries of 12, but I think that for serious cases (where a defendant can be put away for life) most states require a unanimous verdict.
