I think what boggles my mind so much and what caused me to make the quest to DC and ever since 2000....I was puzzled how the dioxin affected so many yet in many different ways but the most common was heart and cancer.
The herbicide took strong, healthy, young men and women and just took it's time to slowly debilitate them.   It only took hours to wipe out trees.  I later learned the fatty tissues and cells held the poison and attacked the most vulnerable areas of one's body...when the soldiers went into an area sprayed which was all of the area and stayed any length of time and washed their clothes in the waters an then put the hats on, or socks, they were even more exposed.   Maude deVictor took an hour to explain to me (from Chicago )  they made a movie about her... how she had that same gnawing to know why the soldiers seem to die from "Unnatural Causes"..the name of the movie about her.   Washington shut her out completely.  She cannot even step foot into a VA.   She was instrumental in connecting the dots...I spoke to the Environmental Toxins
Director about it being terrible for them to do this woman so badly.. She exposed Dow and Monsanto.. that was her crime...Makes me mad every time I think about it.   Wayward Wind had the privilege of hosting this lady in his home.   The advocates of advocates and Maude De Victor.

Here is a link to the movie.

I briefly served with Elmo Zumwalt III aboard the USS Leahy before he transferred to the PBRs.

Elmo R. Zumwalt 3d, son of the admiral who ordered the spraying of Agent Orange in Vietnam, and who was exposed to the defoliant himself, died of cancer today at his home. He was 42 years old.
        More at the link.

Others have simply gotten old. I prefer to think I've been tempered by time.

blew me away...Some serious karma ...and this quote

Admiral Zumwalt said he ordered Agent Orange sprayed over the Mekong Delta to kill vegetation and drive ''the Viet Cong back 1,000 yards off the water's edge.''

In the New York Times Magazine article, the Admiral said: ''Knowing what I now know, I still would have ordered the defoliation to achieve the objectives it did, of reducing casualties. But that does not ease the sorrow I feel for Elmo, or the anguish his illness, and Russell's disability, give me.''

casualties?   Wow... I think more died from the exposure than the foliage....and hidden dangers of an enemy lurking in the jungle.
How does he sleep at night?
