    there wasn't even the pretense of oversight, as I understand it. Perhaps Sen. Kennedy and others who introduced it as a reform measure were wrong in hindsight, but if there is to be such a thing as secret surveillance, I'm not sure what would be a better alternative. I wonder if this would have happened with the original FISA but without the PATRIOT act and the FISA amendments.
