There was a time when progressives actually gave a damn about women's right not to be sexually violated.  It's interesting that the progressive Americans enjoy mocking Republicans for their idiotic, barbaric rhetoric when it comes to the subject of rape (rightly so), while at the same time many of those same progressives support a guy fleeing from rape charges just because the guy is one of their cause celebres.

And it's Sweden we're talking about, one of the most progressive countries in the world, and long held up as an example of how great democratic socialism would be if the same model were applied to the US.  That enlightened, progressive country is the country that Assange is fleeing from.

    •  So why did Sweden refuse to interrogate him... (3+ / 0-)

...without extraditing him first? Got an answer to that one?

Or would you rather cling to a false narrative about the people who are suspicious of the motives of the government of Sweden?

    •  Actually, its legal system sucks. (2+ / 0-)

Assange would be held incommunicado and his trial would not be public. His guilt or innocence would be determined by politically appointed judges. And all it would take would be an OK by the Swedish foreign minister to send him to the U.S.

I'm afraid you are not well informed.

Obama is the Chickenshit-in-Chief for failing to stand up to Republicans on all their phony scandals, from the "beer summit," to Van Jones, "death panels," Shirley Sherrod, contraception, Benghazi, and the IRS.
