  •  No "Loaded" status indicator? (2+ / 0-)

You'd think that with life and death at stake, gun designers would have provided some kind of "Loaded" status indicator by now.

If this sounds simple-minded, don't some military weapons actually have "Front Toward Enemy" or "This End Toward Enemy" engraved on them?

That's why I would like to see all guns having to be insured. Get the insurance corporations on making them safer, and we will get safer guns.

You know, like how cars are far more safe compared to 50 years ago, when they were total death traps. Things like air bags, better braking systems, better suspensions and other safety features were not even thought of until the insurance corporations started with their push to make them safer so they could pay out less. We went from a 1987 Nissan pickup to a 2003 Honda element and it's a world of difference when it comes to safety features. In those almost 16 years  or so there was a major change.

The gun manufacturers will not do it on their own, especially now since they have managed to put into law that they are not responsible for what horrible things are done with the guns.

They need something with lots of clout to push them into it.
