for emphasizing change via parsimonious means - which is how the US Founders approached it, basically crawling on their knees to the Crown for something as trivial as one seat in Parliament.  Fortunately the Crown was as obstinate as they were reasonable, forcing them to higher and higher echelons of action.  I would have supported the Crown until the Crown made it clear it didn't support my people.

And I answered your silly analogy by noting that knee-jerk anti-government sentiment would have sided with the Confederacy in the Civil War.

    •  You are pretty funny. (3+ / 0-)

According to you, I accuse you of being a Tory (excuse me while I laugh) and you accuse me of supporting slavery.  You're right - same thing.

Good thing the populations of Europe did not agree.

Because the Crown always, always claimed to be not only supporting the people but literally embodying them.  They continued this claim up until they were deposed and forced from power.

But please do continue explaining the virtues of blind support for whatever system of authority is or was dominant at any historical moment.

about American or European history, do you?

          •  Multiple degrees in history say otherwise. (4+ / 0-)

Monarchs claimed to the bitter end to be literally embodying their populace and supporting them.  In fact, that was their entire raison d'être.

Monarchies were overthrown by populations who did not accept their self-justifications.  They professed new ideas and philosophies based on quite different principles.

I suggest you base your future comments on the matter on actual history.
