in other diaries comparing Snowden to Martin Luther King Jr. and those comments also had recommends.  They pissed me off, but I refrained from commenting until I made a few comments last night.

Oh FFS that was then, this is now (2+ / 0-)

MLK and Ellsberg didn't live in a rogue state. Snowden did.

As for Gandhi, he was never a US citizen, so WTF is he doing in this company? (Agreed he had honkin' big brass balls though.)

             WTF??? (0+ / 0-)

MLK and Ellsberg didn't live in a rogue state. Snowden did.

Don't put Snowden in the sentence with MLK Jr.  Martin Luther King Jr. risked his life everyday day of his life. And he GAVE his life for this country. He was as likely to be killed by "the State" as by some white ignorant racist.  There were a lot of "rogue" States in this country in his day that would rather kill a Black man than let him vote. And there are still many (most) that just use the police to kill or jail people of color.  I feel way more sorry for the majority of Black, Native American and other people of color in prison than I do for  Snowden.

Snowden can kiss my ass when he whines about being murdered by the U.S. government.  Talk about white privilege....
I fuckin' hate it when white people talk about the good old days . They were only good for White people.  They were rogue states for everyone else.

The difference is, the US is now rogue on EVERYONE (0+ / 0-)

                not just the "underpeople".

That's why this thing is such a HUGE scandal.

                If it's
                Not your body,
                Then it's
                Not your choice
                And it's
                None of your damn business!

To this person of color, that remark sounds like your saying that it was kind of  big deal when just us underpeople were the targets, but now that white people are also targeted, it's a REALLY big deal.

I'm not trying to sound snotty, but that's just how it struck me.

I think this diary does a good job of comparing Snowden's actions with King's though.
