    as well.

We can never neglect state-level politics.  We are getting hideous laws on education, women's health, guns, etc.  And don't forget what happened with reapportionment after the last census.

    •  I'm confused - are you writing about last decade (1+ / 0-)

or this one?  This last session passed some gun control measures, increased funding for education, passed a civil unions bill, all with Democratic majorities (for the first time in a long time) in both branches of the legislature and a Democratic governor.  Voters increased taxes in areas (my Denver bill is going up) and we have our recreational marijuana still being figured out, but at least some laws are in place for that.

Things aren't perfect - for example he rightly is called "Frackenlooper" by those who realize the damage that extensive fracking is causing in the state, but things are better than they were back in the Republican-controlled times of the last decade.  There are more and more charter schools and there seem to be more and more efforts to impose the kind of laws authoritarians love rather than protecting the abused, but I think things are better in Colorado and on a positive trajectory.

Colorado might be used as a contrast to Wyoming, Kansas or Nebraska, perhaps, but taken by itself, we're doing better than we were.

Minnesota.  And in the past were more like Wisconsin, though perhaps not as bad.  I've only been in the state a little over a decade.

And agree--Hickenlooper is far from perfect.  Environmental issues in particular.
