  •  What great stories, eeff! (5+ / 0-)

Loved that toddler rescue; that man is an angel!  I found the source on the Costco piece -- one of our own!!

Every time I see this Geico commercial I think of you, eeff :)

    •  I want to know why the guy being 75 y/o (6+ / 0-)

makes it a story?  Hero at any age, but lots of older folks don't just retire to the nursing home.  Or retire, period.

As soon as I get caught up on work, I have several stories I want to do as a series. Heroes and role models in the world of aviation. One of my favorites died last year at the age of 102.  She was a flight instructor and managed the Morristown, TN airport.

Well, actually she was a flight instructor until she was 96 and lost a leg in a car wreck. You really need both legs to handle instructing students, so after she got out of the hospital, she gave up instructing. With one leg she had trouble with the rudder pedals and toe brakes. However, she continued to manage the airport until she retired at 101.  Died a year later, probably from boredom.

        •  Great work, eeff! Can really see the difference (5+ / 0-)

in the before and right now shots.  It has gotta be hotter than all get out up there.  How can you stand it?

That's one job I'm sure you will be glad when it's done.  Did you get the mowing done yesterday without getting caught in the rain?

I just went out to get the big ladder so I can finish trimming the Bradford Pear tree and I forgot the sprinklers were going.  Dang.  Now I have to wait for them to finish and it'll just get hotter.

I have Charlie and her brother tonight for a few hours.  I'll feed them then give them their baths and into pjs before my son picks them up.  I should sleep well tonight  ;-)

          •  mowing (4+ / 0-)

was done in the dry !
But I need to do the old shop, it's only a 1/2 hour job  :)
I'll try to get over there around 11:00.

there has been a decent breeze, but yes it's hot up there. I have to have something under my knee or hand the metal is so hot. Looks like it will be Saturday before I can paint at the earlierest !

Waves at Charlie !  What's her brothers name?

            •  His name is Ralston. (5+ / 0-)

It was my husband and is my son's middle name -- an old family name after an Uncle.  My d-i-l loved it, said it reminded her of Gone With The Wind, so that's his first name.

Sprinklers stopped so I have enough time to get out there then hit the showers and run some errands!  Gotta get things done early before the heat is to bad to take.

              Enjoy your hump day!

      •  this is why (4+ / 0-)

I stripped the black stuff off.

        2013-06-26_08-29-44_624

when it rains it washes over the side. To get that off we use truck wash that has some acid in it, that messes up the aluminum .

Hopefully this will cure a couple of things.

I'm drilling the rivets out now, going to put new ones in.
