denying those facts makes it more difficult to motivate this community
Somehow there is a trope here at dKos that running down the Dems and hammering the idea that it doesn't matter which party...was not in any way responsible for the disaster of 2010. In fact I've been threatened with banishment for reporting what I saw, up close and personal, back at that time.
When I hear someone rehash the George Wallace quote ("not a dime's worth of difference") all I can think is how blind or naive that person must be. And the denial after the fact, that this trope did damage is incredible!
For many years, since the 70s in fact, I worked with Greens. Much of their old platform was right on. I say their old platform because the past couple cycles, their new platform seems to be "FU(K the Democrats!". The Nadir fiasco not only damaged America, it destroyed the Green Party.
Politics is not pretty or clean, not cut and dried, doesn't perform in absolutes. Purity and idealism are self-defeating.
JFK said "In politics, nobody gets everything, nobody gets nothing and everybody gets something." It's all a matter of incrementalism and compromise, two words that set the extremists on both ends of the spectrum ablaze. Sometimes you have to pick the one that will do you less harm.
And so far that has almost invariably meant voting for the one with the D after their name.

If I ran this circus, things would be DIFFERENT!
