  •  Well (6+ / 0-)

Senate Democrats did vote to confirm both Roberts and Alito.  Not to mention the other three who voted to strike down the VRA.

And in the case of Roberts and Alito, progressives on DKos were arguing that the Democrats reject both of them.  But the Democratic Senate leadership decided to keep their white powder dry.

The justices appointed by Bush had serious support among many Democrats.  And those Dems own this court decision as much as Bush does.

And Arlen Specter owns the deciding vote on this one big time by savaging Anita Hill's testimony.

would you say that the republicans feel they "own" the confirmation of Sodomayer and Hagen?

Lets say tomorrow, when the court hands down their decision on Prop 8, it essentially makes it legal for gays to marry. Will you then tell us that the republicans "own" that decision as much as Obama does?

        •  The senators that approved her? Yes, of course. (0+ / 0-)

They approved the confirmation of her, so they can take partial credit for her decisions.  That is just common sense. You own the consequences of your votes. The GOP as a party? Of course not. But the individual senators that approved her? Yup.
