  •  That sounds good (7+ / 0-)

Here in the Sierra foothills East of Sacramento the high was 104 degrees and it will be even hotter tomorrow. And, as a former resident of the Bay Area I know that you didn't even come close to our high here in Jackson.

The only trouble with retirement is...I never get a day off!

    •  Definitely true! Still moderated by the (5+ / 0-)

westerly winds almost every day (and when they're easterly, it's fire time). I think we made it to the upper 80s in Berkeley and Oakland, but I suspect Orinda and Walnut Creek could have gotten triple digits - at least the 90s.

The salad turned out great - we really enjoyed it and will definitely have it again. We have a second-floor sunroom with a huge, four-casement window that is reused from a mansion someone took down (got the window at Urban Ore in Berkeley). We sat by the window - with the center casements wide open - for dinner, and it's still, at 9:15, warm enough to sit here in a tank top type dress without feeling cold. That's incredibly rare here, and I really enjoy it!

We all understand that freedom isn't free. What Romney and Ryan don't understand is that neither is opportunity. We have to invest in it.
