    are closet royalists. They do not want democracy and they do not want government by the people. They want to be ruled, preferably by an incompetent figure head, who both validates the hierarchy and the inspirational mantra that anyone can land on top, even if it's only a temporary seat on the throne.

    An old codger once told me that Ronald Reagan was great because he proved that any man could become President. It doesn't take any particular talent.  Good hair and stature helps. I would add that a dazzling smile is important. In Jimmy Carter's case, the smile was all-important. Which is why the Republicans did their best to make him lose it.

    We organize governments to deliver services and prevent abuse.
