    judicial confirmations are a sham.  The right-wingers will lie with impunity, all they have to do is say what they think we want to hear and the Kabuki is on.  Once they're confirmed, none of that will matter anymore.  It's a lot like the Voting Rights Act; now that it's gone, anyone can do anything they want and will only have to answer for it well after the impact has occurred and the election is over.  And when they are found to have broken the law, oh well, the election results aren't changed.

    When right-wing judicial nominees are found to have lied during confirmation, nothing is done about it and there they sit on the bench for the rest of their lives.  What's the point of having confirmation hearings when you can never trust what comes out of a right-winger's mouth even under oath?

    It's a damn joke, as our country is rapidly becoming.
