      They may in fact be one of the best examples of altruism in nature:  Starving to be social

        Might have known there'd be a biologist lurking around here. Yes, slime molds are very cool... And extremely strange. The term "slime mold" has a certain ring to it, but perhaps there's no form of life sufficiently lacking in beauty and grace to be compared with Scalia.
