    The principle of standing is that one has to have a dog in the fight. A party must suffer some harm that the court can remedy. With Prop. 8, the initiative backers suffer no harm because the law was struck down, and gay folks were allowed to get married. In your case above, you would have no standing as the initiative sponsor, but you would probably be able to find people who were harmed by some under-punished pollution, and they'd have standing.

    Workers of the world, unite! You have nothing to lose but your shackles. It is by the picket line and direct action that true freedom will be won, not by electing people who promise to screw us less than the other guy.
