    Sensenbrenner's district is comfortably Republican. Unless he's retiring (he's ~70 which is just a pup in Representative years) this would not seem to endear him to his constituents and the party faithful.

    Chabot also doesn't seem like this would benefit him. Although his Ohio district is less Repub than Sensenbrenner's Wisconsin district (R+6 vs R+12), he still doesn't have much to worry about except from the Right.

    I just don't trust them. MAYBE if they were asked in a long interview their feelings on a range of issues and the VRA was just one item of a long list, they could have bemoaned its gutting. They could also have approached it from the viewpoint of the SC overturning the laws of Congress so they could be more consistent (not that consistency matters to their lemmings) when protesting against decisions like DOMA. [I don't know their position on DOMA but odds are as Repubs, they were in favor of it.] Just to come out of the blue with a statement makes me highly suspicious.
