    as a result of Hagel's intention to provide full marriage rights to all legally wedded same-sex military couples will be in the area of public accommodations.

    As far as I know, Virginia's civil rights laws pertaining to public accommodations do not cover sexual orientation, so a landlord could refuse to rent an apartment to a gay or lesbian couple without any consequences. However, given the military presence in Virginia, what happens when a military couple gets turned down because they're in a same-sex marriage?

    So I suspect we'll see a great deal of activity around ENDA in the not too distant future. And that, in turn, will have an enormous effect on the pursuit of marriage equality in places where it's currently banned.
