Yes, it was a silly mistake on the air, but making fun of him for that is juvenile.  A lot of us, including me, have given public speeches where our throat and mouth dry up and we really need a sip of water to continue giving the speech.

    •  I'm guessing most of us (7+ / 0-)

have never had a speech as important as a counter to the State of the Union and we knew enough to have water available in front of us rather than having to leap and stretch across a room live on camera.

I stopped to drink some water from a cup -- already poured by me prior to my 15 minute argument before the second circuit.  I should think no one would have said a word about his pausing for a drink which was in front of him rather than lurching for a bottle.

As long as Republicans lie, cheat and hate most of the citizens of this country -- no ridicule is too severe for them.

there should be no need to drink water in the middle.

I used to think making fun of politicians was unfair and tacky.

I changed my mind after what the media did to Howard Dean -- the way they played the "Dean Scream" over and over.

If that's how they play, that's how we play, dammit.

It's the way he did it that demonstrated the juvenile and inexperienced leadership that Republicans put up as their standard bearers. It wouldn't be an issue if he wasn't such a tool and simply paused, looked away from the camera and had a drink, then continued like a grown-up leader would have done.

Should I remind you that this inexperienced rube was responding to The President of the United States?
