for women's health services (including contraceptive services) in Texas.  He has no moral authority on this issue whatsoever.

Indeed, for a person who has never and will never have to face the difficult choice Ms. Davis faced to tell her that she is too fucking stupid to have learned anything from her life experiences (bear in mind this is Rick "niggerhead" Perry we're talking about here) just leaps the pale.

Also, reference to Ms. Davis' teen pregnancy and being raised by a single mother are clear dog whistles to the "moral majority" fuckwads.

that maybe I'm just not on a moral high horse enough to take the things he said as attacks, while the religious right would.

My thinking is: born to a single mother, had a teen pregnancy, became successful anyway and a role model, awesome!

Their thinking is: born to a single mother, had a teen pregnancy, must be a dirty whore.

So, yea, I think I see the problem now.

      •  That's certainly my take on it. (2+ / 0-)

Maybe I'm being hyper-sensitive, but past being prologue, I think that reading is fair.

That said, I find the entire argument specious anyway.   The "you chose to give birth to your child, and look how well that turned out, so you should be pro-life" argument ignores: (1) that there was a CHOICE involved (pro-choice advocates don't want to force everyone to have an abortion, they just want women to have the right to decide for themselves), and (2) there are surely numerous examples where a choice to give birth to a child (or lack of choice to abort) ended up having serious negative consequences.
