consultants.  Confidence is their game.  Smartest guys in the room, remember?

What is also important here in looking at the GOP as an  investment for donors  is that even the guys who won can't deliver.  Exhibit 1, the Farm Bill and Exhibit 2, they are about to kill immigration reform.  Even rich business people realize tax cuts only go so far.

Don't bet your future on 97% of climate scientists being wrong. Take action on climate now!

    •  House Republicans are already predicting (7+ / 0-)

that the House will pass a symbolic, draconian Immigration bill, and the House-Senate Conference Committee will simply substitute the Senate bill and send it back for an up-or-down vote. Also that Boehner and Cantor will let the Wingers go wild on the House bill under the Hastert rule, and then throw Hastert's institutional memory under the bus (again) on the final vote.

They are quite bitter about it.

      I believe it, every word.

The best the enemies of immigrants can do is to drag it out as long as possible. That is, of course, also the worst that they can do, because it will be in the news at every step of the way, and the end result will be that much closer to the 2014 elections. But Republicans in safe, gerrymandered districts and the heart of the old Confederacy don't care what happens to other Republicans at the ballot box. It's the perennial Republican mantra, Jobs, jobs, jobs, which translated from the Dog Whistle means Our jobs, our jobs, our jobs.
