There is a terrible problem with racism.  But it seems to me that taking it out on Paula Deen, a 60 plus year old Southern woman without education or an affluent background, is just wrong.   She's a chef/cook/recipe writer, not a lawyer nor intellectual, just a hard working woman that's pushed her way into the franchising game, pretty much in the footsteps of Martha what's her name.

Why is she losing everything over this?  There are people thousands of times more evil, and influential, causing so much more harm and nothing bad is brought down on top of them.

Her words are not nearly so bad as a lot of the lyrics in modern songs, and some of those song writers are celebrated for their bad rap.

She is being turned upon, much more viciously than others who deserve it -- I think there is much more to this story somewhere.   I'd really like to find out more to make sense of this.

it's how she talked about using it without any shame, at least for me, and how she had nostalgia for slavery times. TO me as I just said that is very creepy...times people were murdered, shackled, torn from their families, whipped, enslaved and treated as subhuman. She is nostalgic for that time. Think of it like you are a Black person and someone acts nostalgic  for that time...it's akn to Holocaust revisionism and wrong

I get she's not highly educated but she's not that old..people in their sixties now came of age in the 60s with civil rights. You dont have to be educated to have adapted to the times...she has had decades to get this right. PLENTY of working class people her age KNOW not to say what she did and do NOT think it's fine to glorify a time where other American's ancestors were believed to be subhuman animals.
