  •  20x60 on sale for 70 (3+ / 0-)

when I scan the background wiggles which is probably the difference between the expensive and this Barska from Big cinco.

They had on sale a 15x40 for $28 which I am thinking about as the 60 power was just too hard to steady, altho I didn't try the cheap 1' tripod. I leaned it against a post, not grerat.

The 15x40 tripod however is the cheapest skimpiest, but it's size and light weight make it easier to backpack than the 20x60. Forget the tripod, maybe a full size tripod would work.

Ahhh, life on the low end.

The 60 power isn't very clear and sharp either altho good at 20-40.

I watched a gaggle of I think Caspian terns at home, snuggled up on a mudflat. Some standing, some active, some sitting on mud.

One would have a fish and parade proudly in front of a row of the others, the observers would nod vigorously up and down a 160 degree nod all the way up and down to the mud, sooo odd and happy flock behavior, I had no idea they did this. They are really goofy and entertaining.

Then someone would give a signal and 4-15 would launch all making their loud croaks and yells, which they also did on the ground as well...then they'd spiral rapidly back down and talk about it some more. I didn't see any active chase like gulls do, but they seemed to be following the ball, I mean minnow carrier.

Really cool to watch. also Godwits, Willets, Skillets and Sandpipers. Masses of Sandpiper looking flocks all gathering on the exposed low tide mudflats.

    This machine kills Fascists.

Were they putting on a show for you, knowing you were watching?

All I got are some binoculars.
