  •  Why would they want to contact us? (4+ / 0-)

Also, if they are billions of years older than us, they may have evolved into something we can't even comprehend. We may be to them like ants are to us.

Anyone close along the evolutionary path like we are obviously can't get here, nor us there. Much less possessing the ability to find each other. But given the age of the universe, what are the odds that two intelligent species in this universe would develop equally at the same time? I would think that likelihood is quite small.

Also, if they do have the ability to cross large swathes of space/time, they may be watching us but figure we aren't worth contacting until we figure out how to overcome our own problems and move into space as a species, instead of as factions. Then again, I'm just projecting human ideas on to what, may out there. If there are "Intelligent Aliens" out there, well then, I truly expect them to be Alien. I mean, how would they "think?" What does that actually mean? They could be here right now and we wouldn't even
know what to look for. We can't even communicate with whales, in terms of actually understanding they're communication.

Ultimately, the problem with all of this is, we literally can't know what we don't know.
