    I think the biggest cover the executive branch receives for its neo-liberal actions is the reputation of Obama as a liberal, so that no matter what he does, a large percentage of liberal-leaning people will not see things for what they are.  Or, as John Pilger says, Obama is "a very fine hypnotist".  He refers to the hypnotism of the American people that Harold Pinter mentions in his Nobel Prize Lecture.  It's one of the main things preventing Americans from seeing their government as a violent, lawless rogue nation.
