    Although I'm skeptical of that claim because in Spelling 101 at Star Fleet Academy, one is taught that the preferred spelling of the institution is Starfleet Academy.

    Unfortunately I dropped out right after learning that and thus remain ignorant about things like warp drive, or even if the "fleet" part of the name means "a group of ships" or "to go fast"

      I just watch a lot of "Big Bang Theory" reruns.  But I think I'm correct about "warp drive," a sci fi concept that predates Star Trek.

        article on warp drive.

        And quite frankly, it seems like they're just making it up as they go along.  

        In fact I am almost to the point of not believing it exists at all, even in the future (Starfleet Academy coursework notwithstanding).

        Very, very disappointing.
