  •  I agree with that, but still say "so" (0+ / 0-)

The Eagle Society got these 10 commandment things as advertising materials for Charleton Heston's movie, "The Ten Commandments." One of those things wound up in Alabama and became a cause celeb for Judge Roy Moore. That ignited the "let's put a decalogue everywhere" mania among the cheap, theatrical GOP.

Always was this politics, and always was it cheap stuff.

Fighting against the display propagates the political theater that makes the careers of feeble, febrile local GOP politicians. Haven't you noticed how the extremist evangelicals are saying that "soon it will be illegal to be a Christian?" They want to be opposed so that they can stand on the stage.

So next comes League of the South exploiting the solution.

If your headline is, "Right wing hate group protests civil resolution to local ten commandments case," then, well, it wouldn't be surprising. It would be, "So?"

    Everyone's innocent of some crime.

but think about where you're going with this:

Well, if those pesky atheists had left things alone, the Florida League of the South wouldn't have had this chance to grandstand. But, also, there wouldn't have been a "civil resolution," because the creeping theocrats would have won outright. All things considered, I like this way better.

The diarist was a bit off the mark in referring to "the community's reactions": we really don't know how or whether most of the community reacted. But in general I thought the diary was on point.
