    What's "adjusted odds ratio"?

    Plain odds, 1 in 3 chance means 33% chance... 5 in 7 means 71%... that is plain enough for a non-statistician.

    Adjusted odds ratio? Adjusted from what to what?

    And are you really sure you wanted me to comb through the linked study? Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it!

    One study focused on the perpetration of homicide as opposed to victimization and found a relatively weak association (adjusted odds ratio = 1.4) between gun ownership and homicide perpetration
    You know what I think when I read that? I think "Stop Fucking Treating Me Like A Probable Murderer Just Because I Own A Gun". I think that because of the WEAK association between owning a gun and committing homicide. So BACK OFF MY RIGHTS.
